Hey guys
I thought it would be a good idea to may write up some of the topics discussed and i might put it up on the wiki as well later on.
So i think there was a pretty good attendance, thought there was much more of us last month but it was a great night :).
So a big portion of the evening was discussing potential projects for Blug which could raise awareness of FOSS and Blug in general.
noodles came up with the idea of: Open street map on the weekends sometimes just pop on up to places like Bangor on the train for a day and end up in the pub for some grub and a pint. And then maby head off to other random places to map them with GPS. Would be a nice thing to do on a Saturday afternoon!
Another idea noddles come up with was: A PVR overview with possible talk in a venue where people could come in casual and see what Linux can do for PVR style TV boxes record shows watch videos with applications like Myth-box, boxee to name a few. As a good few of us are running this we might as well share the experience we have with maintaining and setting up and which hardware works etc..
So then another is a possible software project would be nice to do but it has to be very local to Belfast's software industry. Which could be anything, but it would be nice if some people could fire up some ideas and we could discuss it on the mailing list and next months meet.
Then another suggested was monthly talks as it may attract a lot of different people not necessarily FOSS people, but it would show off our skill set to local industry possibly. I volunteered to do one on virtualization. Some other guys volunteered to do stuff on mythbox and some of their skills to share the knowledge. It could work pretty well all we need is a venue but that shouldnt be a propblem just worried to make sure people come to listen so as the speaker isn't standing on his own. The talks should be quite relaxed in that it would be more a q/a session largely on how-to's and what it can do etc. And it would be quite relaxed to ask questions!
Anyways i will let people know how i get on with preparing a talk for next month.
Anyways feel free to post up more on what else happened as there was a lot discussed on possibly going to Lug Radio live 2009 if it is on or debcon the debian developer conference.
Hope this covers some of the stuff from last night! Thanks loads for everyone attending it was a fun evening :)
